The Path of Least Resistance

Softness is stronger than any other element that I am aware of. Water is soft, but it is capable of eroding rocks. It flows wherever it wants to regardless of what is in front of it. It seeks out the path of least resistance.
That’s a good model for living. What do you think? The path of least resistance. I wish it hadn't taken me so long to realise that one! I seem to have chosen the most difficult route all the time.
Well, it had to be the right thing, the right time, the right person. Thankfully I know now that there is no such thing as any of those rights! We all do what we were meant to do.
As a holistic practitioner, I think sometimes that the wider community thinks that we don’t need anything, that we are a soft touch, so we don’t need money, and we can do everything voluntarily and live on love!
Well, I have news for everyone, that is very much not the case!
Kindness is often seen as a weakness, not a strength, but even though some people regard it as a weakness it still wouldn't make me be deliberately mean to anyone! Kindness is a necessity when working with other people, but mostly you need to be kind to yourself if you want to be successful.
Compassion and kindness have a great connection. Having compassion for yourself is the first stop, then compassion for other people. We are talking about values here, aren't we? The values that we live and operate under. The pillars or the cornerstones that support our way of being.
I have a huge desire to help other people, show them the way, and make it easier for them to live a happy peaceful life. The drive to do that flows into everything I do, work, home life, personal life.
The joy of seeing people start to do their work, become clear, get into a really good mindset, and transform is so rewarding. All the years of training and studying that have gone behind me just seem so worthwhile when clients listen and follow my advice.
Equally, when they don't it is a bigger challenge for me to be patient, compassionate, and kind to them and meet them where they are. That only comes with much personal growth work - my own! If I didn't understand and be compassionate towards myself then how can I do that for others? The answer is simple I could not. Continuous Professional Development or CPDs as we call them for short, are a great way to keep us on our toes so to speak. Every good practitioner now is well abreast with CPD work. I thoroughly enjoy it! Taking part in and facilitating workshops for the good of the therapist and of course for the greater good is such a joy.
The path of least resistance I must admit was not easy to learn, but when I got the hang of it, everything got easier. I'm still learning!
Do you think it might be a conditioned thing, following the most difficult path? Or a generational thing? Maybe, who knows!
