Nature: Our Best Healer

The simple things in life are free—how many times have you heard that?

But do we really take advantage of them?

Fresh air. Wide open skies. Birds instead of traffic. Silence… ah yes, the silence. So rare, and yet so instantly liberating and invigorating when we finally allow ourselves to sink into it. Nature asks very little of us, yet gives so much in return.

At Casal do Frade, our venue for the Soul Wellness Retreat in Portugal, nature exists in abundance right on the doorstep. Rolling hills, open land, sunlight spilling across the fields—space in every sense of the word. Space to breathe. Space to soften. Space to come back to yourself.

Here, walking meditation replaces rushing. Chanting drifts across the air. Movement and dance become expressions rather than obligations. Everything is waiting for you—quietly, patiently—to take part, to reflect, to step back and rejuvenate.

We all need time out to reset. True rest isn’t something that happens between meetings or while answering emails. It asks for a pause from the everyday roles, routines, and expectations that follow us so faithfully at home.

In Portugal, that pause comes naturally.

Sunshine warming your skin. Crisp, clean air filling your lungs. Homegrown, wholesome vegetarian food nourishing from the inside out. Long moments to reflect. To listen inwardly. To make plans for a gentler future self—one built on care rather than constant motion.

This is where restoration begins.

Not through doing more.

But through remembering how to simply be.

What you notice first is the freshness of the air—the delicate fragrance carried on the breeze, the richness of the colours, the subtle but unmistakable energy of the place.

Peace......It settles quietly around you.

Mornings begin with stretching and gentle yoga, easing the body awake and preparing us for the day ahead. The tension we unknowingly carry—stored in shoulders, hips, jaws, breath—is slowly released through mindful movement and meditation, allowing space for calm to return.

When I stayed here at this venue, I was immediately struck by its beauty. The stillness. The vibrant plants. The absence of traffic, noise, and constant distraction. The simplicity of it all. That rare feeling of being held by nature rather than pulled in every direction. So I went back to stay for a second time, it was so good!

It is important to me to have experienced this place first before inviting you to join us. I am very sure it truly offers what it promises.

And it most definitely does!

It is exactly what it says on the tin.

If you feel called to step away, slow down, and reconnect—with yourself and with the natural world—then perhaps this is your moment.

You are warmly invited to join us if you wish. For the full brochure, request here: https://tr.ee/SaXfYu
