When Rest Becomes Non-Negotiable!

Around ten years ago, I hit a wall.

Not the kind you can push through with another coffee or a good night’s sleep. This was different. I was completely burnt out—exhausted beyond anything I had ever experienced. My body was trying to get my attention in every way it could. Chest infections lingered. Eye infections refused to heal. And still, I kept going. I told myself I was fine.

I ignored what was right in front of me: my body wasn’t asking politely anymore—it needed deep, intentional rest. Then something shifted.

An email landed in my inbox. A friend was hosting a retreat. I didn’t overthink it. I didn’t talk myself out of it. Something in me just knew—this is what I need.

I picked up the phone and booked my place. It was December. And somewhere far from where I stood, the June summer sunshine was waiting.

From the moment I arrived, I felt it. A sense of calm I hadn’t realised I’d been missing. The space was quiet, serene… almost like the world had softened. Everything about the retreat was designed to support healing—not just physically, but mentally and emotionally too. And slowly, something inside me began to change.

I started to feel safe again.

I laughed. I relaxed. I softened.

But more than anything… I allowed.

That was the turning point.

I allowed myself to stop. To let go. To stop carrying everyone else for a while. To take care of me.

The simplicity of it all was what made it so powerful: the nourishing food, the peaceful surroundings, the silence. Even being surrounded by women I had never met before felt surprisingly natural. There was a connection there, an unspoken understanding.

It was exactly what my soul had been craving. And maybe, as you’re reading this, something in you recognises that feeling too. That quiet knowing that you’re tired, not just physically, but deeply, emotionally tired. The kind of tired that doesn’t go away on its own.

If that resonates, it might be time.

Time to step away. Time to reset. Time to give your nervous system the rest it’s been asking for.

This August, a colleague and I are hosting a Soul Wellness Retreat in Portugal, created especially for women who spend so much of their time caring for others, often leaving themselves last on the list.

This is your space to pause, to restore, and to come back to yourself.

Not rushed. Not overwhelmed. Just supported, held, and given the time you truly need.

Mags & I would be delighted to welcome you. Spaces are limited, and the brochure is here if you would like to book: https://tr.ee/6y2BZ4
