Finding Calm: My Journey to Helping Women Live with Ease and Balance

Life can feel overwhelming at times, especially when you’re trying to juggle so many responsibilities and care for the people you love. I want to share my personal journey — not just as a mother and holistic practitioner, but as someone who has experienced stress, panic, and the feeling of being completely alone. My hope is that my story will inspire and reassure women like you that there is a way to find calm, balance, and joy, even in the most challenging moments.
When I had my youngest son Geoff, who was born with Down syndrome almost 38 years ago now, my whole world changed. He is the youngest of four adult children. I remember feeling incredibly stressed, scared, and alone. There were so many unknowns, and at times, it felt like no one truly understood what I was going through. (Possibly because I never told anyone at the time). I love my son with all my heart, but I often felt like I was carrying the weight of the world on my shoulders.
As Geoff got older, new challenges appeared. He didn’t settle well at mainstream school, and I constantly worried about him — whether he was happy, understood, or accepted. The stress began to take over my life. I started having panic attacks, and sleep became almost impossible. Having three older children, I had to keep my happy face on for their sake. But my mind never stopped racing. I felt like I was running on empty but couldn’t slow down, because I thought everything and everyone depended on me.
Eventually, I reached a point where I knew I couldn’t keep going the way I was. I finally asked for help, and that decision changed everything. I started working with a wonderful professional who supported me and taught me techniques to manage my panic attacks. Little by little, I began to feel calmer, more in control and make better choices. For the first time in a long time, I believed that things could get better. Through that experience, I realised how powerful the right support can be — and I knew deep down that I wanted to help others the same way she helped me.
That experience set me on a new path — one I could never have imagined back then. For the past 30 years, I’ve worked as a holistic practitioner and tutor, supporting others on their own journey to wellness. I’ve had the privilege of helping mainly women find healthier, calmer, and more balanced lives through a mix of therapies, techniques, and gentle guidance. Everything I share comes from a place of lived experience — from knowing what it feels like to struggle, and knowing that change is possible.
After everything I’ve experienced, I am convinced that it is possible to manage stress, overwhelm, and anxiety — no matter where you’re starting from. It begins with loving yourself enough to ask for help and allowing yourself to receive the support you need. You don’t have to do it all alone. Life can feel lighter, calmer, and more joyful when you give yourself permission to take care of you. That’s the message I want to share with every woman I meet — that healing is possible, peace is within reach, and you are so much stronger than you think.
I hope my story shows that no matter how overwhelming life can feel, there is always a way to find calm, balance, and joy. If you’re feeling stressed, anxious, or just in need of support, know that you don’t have to navigate it alone. I would love to help you discover techniques, tools, and guidance that can make life feel lighter and more manageable. Together, we can create a space where you feel seen, valued, and supported — because you truly deserve it.
